EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

EFT ForeheadEFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is also known as tapping. At first, when introduced to EFT,  some feel like it looks pretty silly – tapping all over the body to initiate change or relieve pain. Some discount EFT because it seems too good to be true, but oddly enough the very thing they discount (i.e. EFT’s simplicity and effectiveness), is actually true! EFT is ridiculously simple and the results can be quite miraculous and unbelievable.

EFT is designed around one main factor for a healthy mind, body, & spirit. Energy! EFT is a method to release and remove blocked energy to create change in mind, body, & spirit.

Gary Craig, the founder of EFT says, “The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.” And if you think back to a event that was very upsetting to you, this is very much the case isn’t it? Just thinking about the event can cause the heart rate to go up, breathing changes, feelings of tightness or discomfort in many areas of the body, such as the chest, hear, neck/shoulders, or stomach. Holding on to these negative energies can create all sorts of issues for us, including dis-ease, body pain, anxiety, stress related symptoms, fatigue, headaches, and much more. Sometimes we simply do not feel good – we can feel the negative “vibes” in mind, body, & spirit.

There has been some amazing studies and demonstrations of the successful use of EFT for many issues. One particular area of success using EFT has been in the treatment of veterans that suffer from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). So, how easy is EFT really? You simply think on your issue, give your issue a ranking (whether it’s pain or emotion or whatever), then start tapping. It could be just moments before you begin to feel a shift in the pain or emotion. And you may have only spent about 2 or 3 minutes on this treatment.

tappling pointsThe EFT process includes tapping on the various parts of the body that are powerful energetic meridian points. The meridian points are the openings of the bodies meridian energy access and they are the same meridian points that are used in the ancient healing practice of acupuncture. Once you have an issue in mind that you want to tap on, you simply devise a set up statement about your issue and begin tapping on the meridian points in sequence. After a couple rounds of tapping, you stop to check your ranking level of tension around the issue and if the issue is still not resolved, you tap another round or two.

Working with an EFT Practitioner to learn the tapping process and tackle issues in minutes that have plagued you for years is a remarkable healing experience. There are many new approaches in tapping that are being utilized today that continue to improve or customize the original treatment method. But the great thing about EFT Tapping is that once you get the hang of it by working through some issues with an EFT Practitioner, the tool itself is yours for life and you can utilize the tapping techniques anytime and anyplace you want to.
